What is Pop Start?
Pop Start gives children and young people the chance to perform as part of a band. All equipment is provided and no previous experience is required.
They will perform pop and rock songs with other children, with the music adapted to match each child’s ability. They will gain valuable experiences listening to and cooperating with each other, being creative, improving concentration, boosting confidence and learning the value of working hard to achieve their goals.
Mostly, though, they’ll be having a whole heap of fun.
How does it work?
Pop Start sessions are currently held at the Round House and Wintringham Schools. [More schools coming soon – watch this space!]
There are ten 30-minute band practices per term culminating in a concert for parents and carers to attend. All instruments and equipment are provided for the sessions.
Payments are made in advance at the beginning of each block. This is to ensure that a band line-up is consistent while they are working on a particular song.
How do I sign up?
Registration for the Round House and Wintringham schools is open from Friday 12 July until midday on Saturday 6 September 2025.
When you register your child for a place in a band, please select which instrument(s) they would like to perform, in order of preference. Some instruments will be oversubscribed, so the more instruments you include, the greater the chance of securing a place. If you want to register two or more siblings, please complete the form for each child.
If the bands are over-subscribed, places for each instrument will be allocated randomly until the places are full. You will then be asked to pay the termly fee (by BACS transfer) by midday on Wednesday 10th September to secure your child’s place. Any unclaimed places will then be offered to other children.
